Lettre d'octobre 2007 : La dévotion au Très Saint Rosaire

Le Père Calmel écrivait en 1960 que la Très Sainte Vierge Marie est « la victoire de Dieu, la manifestation toute-puissante de sa lumière et de sa miséricorde ». « Il suffit de la regarder pour comprendre que c’est Dieu qui est le plus fort », ajoutait-il.
Quelle belle parole réconfortante et encourageante! En ce mois d’octobre dédié au Rosaire, consacré à Notre Dame du Très Saint Rosaire, il est particulièrement opportun de se souvenir que Notre Dame est la victoire de Dieu, la preuve irréfutable, éclatante de la supériorité de Dieu et que nous pouvons et devons mettre toute notre confiance en Elle.
La dévotion au Très Saint Rosaire est sans aucun doute le meilleur moyen pour nous protéger des dangers spirituels de ce temps : « C'est le Rosaire qui sauvera le monde » prophétisait le pape Pie IX et Pie XII ajoutait
« Nous n'avons donc aucune hésitation à affirmer quelle espérance nous plaçons dans le Rosaire pour guérir les maux qui affligent notre siècle. »
Le Rosaire semble être bien peu de chose, bien ordinaire, et pourtant il est tout puissant, source de tant de bienfaits. C’est par lui que nous pouvons espérer guérir les hérésies et autres maux d’aujourd’hui. C’est lui qui sera toujours, pour chacun d’entre nous, le meilleur moyen de préserver et fortifier notre foi car, entre autres, la simple méditation de ses mystères nourrit celle-ci et augmente la piété dans nos coeurs.
Le Saint Rosaire sera aussi le moyen de renouveler en nos cœurs une confiance sans faille dans la victoire de Dieu contre tous ceux qui Le combattent. Nous n’avons aucune raison de nous décourager, car nous savons qu’à la fin Son « Cœur Immaculé triomphera ».
Je voudrais donc, par cette lettre, vous inviter à une grande générosité dans la prière du Saint Rosaire pendant ce mois d’octobre mais aussi chaque jour de votre vie.
Et puisque le mois de novembre approche, c’est aussi pour la libération et le soulagement des âmes du purgatoire que nos prières s’élèveront. Vous trouverez, ci-joint, une enveloppe, vous pouvez écrire les noms des personnes pour lesquelles vous voulez prier et nous la renvoyer. Ces enveloppes seront placées sur l’autel pendant tout le mois de novembre et les âmes mentionnées seront ajoutées aux intentions de chaque Messe célébrée.
Je voudrais aussi vous remercier pour votre aide envers nos écoles. Grâce à votre générosité à travers tout le Canada et aux différentes levées de fonds organisées en Ontario, nous avons rassemblé 60,000.00$ pour notre projet d’école à Wilmot, Ontario. C’était le but que nous nous étions fixé puisqu’un généreux bienfaiteur nous avait promis d’égaler cette somme. Cela nous permet de commencer la réfection du toit et d’autres travaux de rénovation devraient suivre.
Nous avons eu la joie d’obtenir le renouvellement du permis d’enseigner à l’école de la Sainte Famille (Lévis, Québec) et des travaux de réfections de la façade de l’école ont été effectués cet été. L’abbé de L’Estourbeillon a fait récemment un appel car 35,000.00$ lui sont nécessaires pour ce début d’année. A Welwyn (Saint Michael’s Academy), nous sommes sur le point d’ajouter un petit bâtiment à côté de l’église afin de faciliter les cours : il était devenu difficile de donner tous les cours dans le seul sous-sol de l’église. Et d’autres projets sont à l’étude, en particulier l’agrandissement de l’école de Calgary, Saint John Bosco School.
En vous remerciant de votre aide et de votre soutien, en particulier pour les Bourses Saint-Joseph mais aussi pour tous ces projets qui préparent l’avenir de la Tradition catholique au Canada, je vous prie de croire en mes prières et de recevoir ma bénédiction.

Dear faithful,
Father Calmel wrote in 1960 that the Blessed Virgin Mary is “the victory of God, the all-powerful demonstration of His brightness and of His mercy”. “You just have to look at Her to understand that God is the most powerful”, he added.
What a delightful, comforting and encouraging saying! During this month of October dedicated to the Rosary, consecrated to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, it is particularly appropriate to remember that Our Lady is the victory of God, the undeniable, luminous proof of God’s superiority and that we can and must put all our confidence in Her.
The devotion to the Most Holy Rosary is, without any doubt, the best means to protect us from the spiritual dangers of our time: “The Rosary will save the world”, prophesied Pope Pius IX and Pope Pius XII added “We do not hesitate to affirm again publicly that we place great confidence in the Holy Rosary for the healing of the evils of our times”. The Rosary seems to be so little, so ordinary. However, it is almighty, a source of so many benefits. It is through it that we can hope to cure today’s heresies and other evils. It is the Rosary, which shall be always and for every one of us the best way to preserve and strengthen our faith and increase piety in our hearts.
The Holy Rosary will be also the means to renew in our hearts an unfailing confidence in God’s victory over all those who fight against Him. We have no reason to be discouraged, as we know that “in the end Her Immaculate Heart shall triumph”.
I would like, therefore, through this letter, to invite you to be very generous in praying the Holy Rosary during this month of October as well as every day of your life.
And as the month of November is forthcoming, it is also for the release and the relief of the poor souls in purgatory that our prayers will be raised. You will find enclosed the November envelopes. Write the names of your dearly departed whom you wish to be remembered during the Masses in November and send them back to us. These envelopes will be placed on the altar during the entire month and the souls mentioned on them will be especially remembered at each Mass.
I would also like to thank you for your help towards our schools. Thanks to your generosity all across Canada and to the different fund-raisers organized in Ontario, we have gathered $60,000.00 for our school project in Wilmot, Ontario. It was the objective for which we targeted since a generous benefactor had promised us to match that amount. It allows us to start the repair of the roof and other renovation works should follow.
We had the joy of obtaining the renewal of the teaching permit at Holy Family School (Levis, Quebec) and some works were done to the facade last summer. Father de l’Estourbeillon called recently because $35,000.00 is necessary for the beginning of this year. In Welwyn (Saint Michael’s Academy), we are about to put up a trailer near the church to help with the classes. It had become too difficult to give all the lessons in only the basement of the church. And other projects are being studied, especially the enlarging of our Calgary school, Saint John Bosco School.
In thanking you for your prayers, your help and support, especially towards the Saint-Joseph Bursary Fund but also with all of these projects, which prepare the future of Catholic Tradition in Canada, I entreat you to be assured of my prayers, and to receive my blessing.
